Seminar with Alan Close. This seminar explores some of the issues raised in Alan's book 'Before You Met Me'. Questions such as: do men and women share the same idea of what makes a 'good' relationship? Is there a man's language of love which is different from women's? How much of our 'truth' is acceptable to make public.

Surviving 'Care' - One day conference, Sydney, 3 October 2008

Surviving 'Care' - Towards a Meaningful Process of Healing in NSW.
This one day conference seeks to bring together a number of individuals, groups and organisations concerned with establishing a meaningful process of healing for survivors of care. Building on the 2004 Senate Inquiry report, 'The Forgotten Australians', the conference is aimed at facilitating discussion on how the New South Wales state government can respond effectively to the abuse, neglect and cruelty epxerienced by thousands of children in orphanages, children's homes and out-of-care homes over the past few decades.

Seminar Series 2007 - Is Life Like A Box Of Chocolates? Reframing Social Values In Australia

Life may indeed be like a box of chocolates but we have to first pick them out of the box and taste them to confirm that they approximate to something called 'chocolate'. And not all people like chocolate, or have, or want, or need access to it. And as post-modernists would remind us, there are many different sorts of chocolate - multiple chocolates - and how we think and talk about chocolate(s) says much about whom we are and how we relate to ourselves and the wider world. And let's not forget: chocolate is a desired commodity in the global marketplace and many people who produce the ingredients for this confectionary are poor and heavily exploited.
